Glorelys Mora-Liz was born and raised in Hamilton Heights, New York City. From a very young age, she always placed a high value on education and scholarship as it was, “the only way out of the hood.” In elementary school, she was placed in the gifted and talented program and in middle school she was the class salutatorian.
She later attended the High School for Environmental Studies where she was the Yearbook Editor-In-Chief, member of the National Honor Society, Summer Institute for the Gifted Participant (Bryn Mawr College and Amherst College), active HEAF (Harlem Educational Activities Fund) member and Prom Queen. After being accepted to her five top college choices, some of the nation’s most prestigious universities: Emerson College, Binghamton University, University of Maryland: College Park Honors, Boston University with a full-ride scholarship admission, she chose to attend Syracuse University and was awarded two annual academically-based scholarships: The Jewish Foundation for the Education of Women, scholarship award and The Broad Prize Foundation, scholarship award.
While at Syracuse University, she was recognized as a student leader on her campus and in the Syracuse community. Her leadership roles included (but, were not limited to): National Association of Hispanic Journalist (NAHJ) Vice President, Kalabash Dance Troupe’s Historian and Public Relations Chair and, Dimensions Mentor. Through the Syracuse University Study Abroad program she was sponsored by the Chancellor of the university, Nancy Cantor, to travel to Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Holland, France, Monaco and London the summer before her senior year. The following spring semester, she participated in the SU Abroad program again and was sponsored to travel to Brazil adding to her list of travels (including service learning in Bogotá , Colombia earlier in her High School years with the YMCA of Greater New York).
At the moment, she is a contributing writer for Elite Daily, Freelance Public Relations and Social Media/Marketing Manager (working with Efva Attling, Beautique and Claw Daddy’s NYC), Lifestyle Blogger and an Entrepreneur. Her aspirations include becoming a successful Entrepreneur, Philanthropist and New York Times Best-Selling Author.
